Soprano Rebecca Farley, Matthew Vanover – in Concert

A free concert by soprano Rebecca Farley accompanied by pianist Matthew Vanover is set for 2 p.m. June 2 at First United Methodist Church in Henderson.
Farley, whose operatic roles have included Nannetta in “Falstaff”, Zerlina in “Don Giovanni” and Mabel in “The Pirates of Penzance” and who also starred as Christine Daaé in the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre’s groundbreaking production of “The Phantom of the Opera,” holds a Bachelor of Music degree from UK. She is a 2008 graduate of Henderson County High School.
She is also a recent winner in the district Metropolitan Opera auditions and placed second in the regional auditions.
Vanover is Director of Music Ministries at First United Methodist.
The concert will include classical music by Roger Quilter, Ricky Ian Gordan, Puccini and Mozart. Musical theatre repertoire such as “I Feel Pretty” (from West Side Story) and “The Sound of Music” also will be performed.
The concert is free and open to the public. A love offering will be collected to help support Farley’s summer plans to attend the Chautauqua Summer Music Festival in New York.
A reception will be held immediately after the performance.
